Portfolio Analyst

Position Description

Provide support to the Portfolio Management group through trading, individual security analysis and financial analysis.  Participation on project teams related to improving and updating technology and marketing materials.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Bond Trading: Support the corporate and municipal bond purchase and sale efforts under the direction of the firm’s bond specialists and portfolio managers.  Responsibilities may include the following activities:

  • Executing purchases of specified corporate and municipal bond issues
  • Executing sales of bonds as requested by portfolio managers
  • Allocating block bond purchases to client accounts
  • Assisting with credit research as directed

2. Portfolio Management: Support portfolio managers with assigned accounts.  May participate in client meetings but not in an advice capacity.  Under direction of portfolio managers, duties may include the following activities:

  • Prepare investment policy guidelines
  • Execute portfolio trades as directed by portfolio managers
  • Monitor portfolios for bond maturities and other adjustments as markets evolve
  • Assist with quarterly analysis letters for portfolio managers as directed

3. Securities Analysis: Perform research and analysis for portfolio managers. Provide technical support with data gathering, modeling scenario analysis, and presentation development.  Research includes the following asset classes:

  • Stock analysis
  • Bond analysis
  • Mutual Fund analysis
  • ETF analysis

4. Investments & Financial Analysis: Perform firm-wide, client-specific or other financial analysis to include the following subjects:

  • Performance reporting
  • Ad hoc requests
  • Retirement planning
  • Risk concentrations

5. Technology Project Support:

  • Learn Black Diamond wealth management platform, provide support to colleagues, and assist with data management and maintenance
  • Assist with technology transformation projects as needed

6. Marketing

  • Participate in and support YHB’s marketing activities

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business or Accounting
  2. Organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
  3. Strong interpersonal skills, including written and oral communication skills
  4. Ability to take initiative, work independently, and prioritize multiple projects
  5. Fluency with Excel formulas and functions
  6. Ability to modify existing processes to improve efficiency
