Paul R. Martel President
Paul R. Martel is President and Founder of YHBIA. He manages client portfolios and also serves as Trustee for many clients and their families. Paul was also the founder in 2013 of YHB Charitable Endowment, Inc. This non-profit 501C(3) seeks to promote and facilitate the charitable interests of YHBIA clients through the use of donor advised funds. Prior to establishing YHBIA, Paul was a vice president of CIGNA, a major multi-line insurer and provider of investment products and services. In their Individual Financial Division, he was responsible for the education of CIGNA staff and field force on investment issues, portfolio management, goal setting, and the role and use of investment securities. In this capacity, he designed and evaluated hundreds of individual and pension investment portfolios. Paul began his investment career in 1978 spending five years with a leading Wall Street firm where he gained broad experience in the stock and bond markets.
Paul has over 35 years of investment management experience. He dedicates much of his spare time to humanitarian work. For many years, he served as President and Board member of Healing the Children, NE. During this time, he organized 12 surgical missions to Ecuador, Colombia, Guatemala and Paraguay providing free surgical care to critically ill, needy children. In 2007, Paul founded his own medical clinic in Riobamba, Ecuador. That clinic is now a multi-specialty surgical center called Centro Clinico Quirurgico Fibuspam. In 2012, Paul founded his own charitable foundation in Ecuador known as Fundacion Internacional Buen Samaritano Paul Martel (FIBUSPAM) and to date the foundation and clinic have provided medical care to over 40,000 children and adults (www.fibuspam.org). Paul is also the author of “To the Least of These My Brothers,” a collection of essays about his early humanitarian work and “A Humanitarian’s Defense of Capitalism” which examines the contrasts between the paradigms of freedom and socialism.
